What to Expect Each Day

A typical Hill Skills course day starts at 9am with an indoor session where you’ll meet your group and get an introduction to the day’s plan. Your qualified instructor will explain the key learning objectives before heading outdoors.

You’ll then spend 4–5 hours walking in the hills, usually on rough footpaths or trails, putting theory into practice. The pace is relaxed, with plenty of opportunities for breaks and on-the-go learning. At the end of the day, you’ll return indoors for a short review session and to prepare for the next day’s adventure.

By the end of the course, you’ll have the confidence, knowledge, and practical skills to enjoy independent hill walks across the UK and Ireland.
